[Poll] How’s the latest Galaxy S8 Oreo beta working for you?

The Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is at an end. Samsung had revealed that the beta program would come to a close on January 17th, and while the company didn’t make a final announcement that the program has indeed ended, we’re not expecting to see any more betas. Samsung is working on releasing the final build of Oreo sometime this month for beta testers, and while we wait for that to happen, we thought we’d ask you, our readers, about their opinion on the last Galaxy S8 Oreo beta (build number ZRA5).

Latest Oreo beta is almost good as a stable build for us

I’m the only one here at SamMobile who is using the beta on my primary device, and the latest version of the beta is working mighty fine for me. I’ve only seen my S8+ acting up when trying to fire up the iris scanner. There are times when the iris scanner doesn’t immediately start scanning my eyes and makes me wait a few seconds. I also recall seeing Chrome crash in the background twice, but that’s about it. The overall experience has been a smooth one, which is great since it means Samsung doesn’t have a lot to do before it can start rolling out the official Oreo update.

What about you? How’s the latest beta running on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+? Let us know by selecting an answer in the poll and by getting a discussion going in the comments section!

I noticed frequent app crashes and RAM management has worsened after Oreo. But no reboot issues unlike others.

If someone has problems with battery. makes factory reset and wipe cache. Then it runs like new.

I’ve had no issues since beta 4. The final Beta built seems to be working very well. I’ve had great battery life. Good overall performance. The best thing to do is to wipe cache before booting the phone. Wipe cache within settings and update all apps to latest versions.

You guys need to be more clear as to which build and model number you are using when you refer to any “Oreo Beta” news posts. Are you referring to the international variant? The US variant? An official or unofficial beta? A release candidate (aka CRA1/CRA5/CRA9)? Asking us how life is on the latest beta when the “latest” varies depending on region and source of the beta is going to get varied responses. For example, CRA9 has updated GPU drivers and a lot of games/apps show a black screen. Candy Crush, Ring Video Doorbell, Animal Crossing, a lot of the… Read more »

Bla Bla Bla! OFFICIAL Beta’s have a “Z” before the buildnumber, NOT “C”!
And about which device are you talking: S8/S8+, or the “so called leaked “beta’s”” for the Note8?

The beta build NUMBERS for the S8 and S8+ are the same.
The beta BUILDS vary based on region. For example, in some regions the latest is ZRA5, also the same exact build as CRA5 without the Beta application.
In other regions, the latest is ZRA6 or ZRA8.

Lastly, why would I be commenting on a Note 8 leaked beta on an S8 beta post?

Why is battery life not added as an option. The last update drains battery faster than the previous ones.

It is great this final beta, really really wish there wasn’t that one dodgy Oreo update that drastically overheated my phone continuously. completely killed the battery life. No heating issues now, and battery is now just poor. performance is fine, just battery doesn’t last long at all. barely 2 hours screen on time. 🙁
wasn’t really wanting to get the S9+ was hoping to finally be a Note user, but looks like I’ll be getting it when it comes out on upgrade programme

I have S6 Edge and i installed nearly all of S8 apps beta version from android 8 except contacts and messages
They working very nice also the edge screen of S8 were installed
No custom roms …just installed normally on stock rom without root.
But first need to disable something that pervent you from updating system apps manually

Installing Oreo-targeted apps doesn’t mean you will have Oreo (functions) on your device. I think you will get these apps via Galaxy Apps when Oreo will be officially launched.

Installing S8 apps to an S6 Edge is like Krilin dressing up as Goku and expecting the same strength lol.

Now that it feels stable, what about battery life? Did it get better? Thanks 🙂
