LATEST GALAXY A54 5G NEWS
By now, the Galaxy A5x is the face of Samsung’s mid-range smartphone series, and the 2023 Galaxy A54 5G will likely become the most popular model in the lineup. For this year’s model, Samsung has streamlined the design and borrowed elements from the high-end Galaxy S series.
The Galaxy A54 5G may be the go-to smartphone for Samsung customers who don’t want to pay flagship-grade money, and as usual, the phone strikes a good balance between features and affordability.
Samsung’s new candidate for a mid-range hero device, i.e., the Galaxy A54 5G, shares many design principles with more expensive Galaxy S models. 2023 is the first year when Samsung has attempted to unify its design language across different price points, and because of this, the Galaxy A54 5G seems to punch above its weight in terms of looks.
The A54 5G has a flat display and a flat back panel, sandwiching an almost-flat metallic frame. This year, the phone doesn’t have a prominent camera hump; instead, it features three circular cutouts for each rear-facing camera.
The phone has an Infinity-O display cutout for the selfie camera, a USB-C port on the bottom side of the frame, and a power and volume rocker on the right edge. Samsung plans to release the Galaxy A54 5G in a handful of colors, including black, lime, purple, and white.
An Exynos 1380 chipset should be found deep under the hood of the Galaxy A54 5G. The chipset features the Mali-G68 graphics chip. Memory variants include 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage.
Other specs should include 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, stereo speakers, and an IP67 dust and water resistance rating. The phone should draw power from a 5,100mAh battery with 25W fast charging capabilities.
As previously mentioned, the Galaxy A54 5G has an Infinity-O display design. Furthermore, the panel has a 6.5-inch diagonal and a Full HD+ resolution.
The panel is of the Super AMOLED variety and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint reader should reside behind the display.
Another big change to the Galaxy A5x in 2023 lies in the camera configuration. For the 2023 model, Samsung decided that the depth camera was unnecessary or not good enough for the price point, so it ultimately removed it.
As a result, the Galaxy A54 5G has three rear-facing cameras and an LED flash. The triple camera system comprises a 50MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The selfie shooter is expected to have a resolution of 32MP.
Software and Features
The first Galaxy A phone for 2023 that shipped with Android 13 and One UI 5.0 was the Galaxy A14. As such, it’s no surprise that the pricier Galaxy A54 5G runs on the same OS version at launch.
As a mid-range phone, the Galaxy A54 5G doesn’t have access to more advanced One UI features such as Samsung DeX, but it has RAM Plus, which allows users to repurpose some storage to virtual RAM for improved multitasking.
One UI 5.0 should provide a smooth experience and a fresh design, with easy access to connectivity features and new lock screen customization options.
Availability and Price
At the moment, there are no official details as to when the Galaxy A54 5G will hit the market and for what price.
