Earlier today, Samsung announced that it would soon release a software update to the Galaxy S22 series with new and improved camera features. Now, the company has already started rolling out that update in South Korea, and we expect it to be released in other markets within the next few days.

The latest software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version S90xNKSU2AVHB. The update also seems to be available in Germany with firmware version S90xBXXU2AVH9, but we can't confirm if it brings those new camera features.

It is the second update of the month, bringing some new camera features and improving the overall camera performance. You can install the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install.

Once the new firmware file is available in our database, you can download it and flash it manually if you're well aware of the manual flashing process.

Galaxy S22's second August 2022 update brings improved camera performance, 3x telephoto hyperlapse mode, better QR code scanning

According to the official changelog, the new software brings the hyperlapse feature to the 3x telephoto camera. Earlier, this feature was limited to the primary and ultrawide cameras. Samsung is also working on the Astro Hyperlapse feature, which will be released to the Galaxy S22 series with an upcoming update.

The update also brings a bigger QR code detection area to the stock camera app. Samsung says that it has significantly improved the QR code scanning speed. Earlier, when the camera app detected a document in the frame, it would not recognize the QR code in it, but now, users can tap on the QR code in a document to scan it. The app also allows rescanning a QR code after a user dismisses the first scan attempt.

Samsung says it has improved the Galaxy S22's HDR, color reproduction, and video stabilization performance. It has improved the natural sharpness and contrast of telephoto and ultrawide cameras. The South Korean firm has also optimized the camera app's memory usage and AI performance in Night, Photo, and Video modes.

The company has promised that it will soon bring improved image quality in videos, colors and exposure in Night mode, and the overall image quality in ultra-low-light conditions.
