S Voice update brings a new icon, and probably other stuff no one cares for

Remember S Voice? Alright, I’ll wait a few seconds. Remember it now? Yes? Good. S Voice, the virtual assistant that Samsung never developed to any meaningful potential only to recently decide it once again needs to get into the business of virtual assistants, is getting an update today. It’s a major update as far as the version number is concerned (the version number has jumped from 3.x to 4.x), but we have no clue what it brings to the table in terms of changes and new features.

The S Voice icon has been updated to match the new theme that debuted on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and we think the background transparency of the main S Voice screen has been increased. To be honest, none of us here at SamMobile have used S Voice in the last couple of years, so it’s hard to say whether this is anything other than an icon and version number upgrade. But should you be a regular user of S Voice, the changes should become clear as you start using the latest version, and you can let us know once you see something new or different.

The new version of S Voice should be showing up on your device in the coming days (you can check in the Settings » About S Voice menu inside the app to see if the update is available), and we also have the APK available for download in our APK section. The APK isn’t installing on the Galaxy S7 edge, throwing out the error that an existing version of the app already exists, but it does install on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. You know, just so you can have an alternative for Bixby Voice till the time Samsung decides to launch it in your region in your local language.

Do you have a daily quota for articles written so that you can get your salary? That’s the only reason I can think of to understand why you (and always you) keep on writing articles with that “I don’t give a fu**” or “Samsung shi**y stuff” once more. I am astonished that you haven’t written your famous “haha” in some of the meaningless sentences because, ironically, that’s one of the most meaningful words you use in your latest articles. You know, maybe someone uses S Voice? I don’t, but I don’t write publicly on a Samsung dedicated website that it’s… Read more »

Galaxy A5 2017 – It’s my third and last Samsung mobile. Got S3 Neo with self cracking LCD frame, One failed S5 Neo and now that bag with garbage – A5 2017. In all three phones this particular bloatware is one of the first things being disabled via Application manager. One time failed to disable it on S3 Neo and received immediate 35% battery drain for 7.5 hours. Fortunately it can be still disabled in my new bag filled with Samsung garbage A5 2017. Phone is nice, but bloatware which can’t be disabled is with monolith size – Samsung Apps,… Read more »

Have you tried any of the apps on the playstore that let you remove those apps without root for Samsung devices

Yes, adhell – tried to disable as most garbage as I can. Disabling shitty search, quick connect and other smelly cloud garbage was OK. Disabling stupid themes seems to break changing of wallpapers. However gamelauncher still detects that there is newer version on Samsung (cr)apps and message “This feature has been disabled by administrator” on random places is pretty annoying. Ended with refused permissions for most garbage and listing that phone is for sale at second hand. In the end Samsung choice was a big disappointment and money waste if we count broken back glass, result from simple fall at… Read more »

Yep. I promise. When I get out from the cave. Btw got HTC which is in nearly perfect condition…. While body of S3 Neo (~3year old ) is self cracking, this A5 2017 is direct replacement of S5 Neo which had failed LCD display * 2, failed mainboard and 3 times were going for re-gluing LCD + touch assembly. I do not believe that problem is with my abilities to use phones. 12 years old Sony-Erricsson K750 is still working and battery holds just 3 days now (original one, phone is bought in 2005), HTC desire was bought in november… Read more »
