Samsung may have lost its top spot in the Indian tablet market

Recently a research firm published a report claiming that Samsung had been dethroned as India's largest smartphone vendor by a local rival, Micromax, however the company was quick to refute that report and reiterate that it remained the market leader in India. Today IDC is out with a new report which suggests that Samsung has lost its top spot in the Indian tablet market. According to IDC's data in Q4 2014 Samsung tablets accounted for 12.9% of all tablet sales in the country whereas local manufacturer iBall's tablets accounted for 15.6% of all tablets sold during this period.

Datawind, another local manufacturer, came third with 9.6%. Lenovo and HP came after that with 9.4% and 8.7% respectively. It is likely that Samsung might refute this report as well since different research firms have different ways of looking at market positions, but so far the company has not responded.
