Samsung bedazzled everyone with its vast repertoire of smart TVs and TV-related tech at CES 2022. However, Samsung seems to have a few more aces up its sleeve when it comes to mind-blowing display tech. Enter the Samsung Odyssey Ark, a 55-inch 4K curved Mini LED monitor that takes immersion to an entirely new level.

Now, Samsung is no stranger to obnoxiously large gaming monitors, as exhibited by the Odyssey G9. However, the Odyssey Ark is a lot more flexible in terms of orientation i.e. it is rotatable about the pivot, effectively allowing you to customize your viewing experience in interesting ways. Now, there aren’t many use cases for a giant 55-inch curved monitor in portrait mode, but it’s nice to have the option.

Interestingly enough, the Samsung Odyssey Ark has a 16:9 aspect ratio, something that is rare for monitors in this form factor. Samsung hasn’t told us a whole lot more about the monitor. Key specs such as peak brightness, refresh rate, colour accuracy etc., are still shrouded by mystery.

The Samsung Odyssey Ark is expected to hit shelves sometime in Q2, 2022. Given its unique form factor and QD OLED panel, we can expect it to cost upwards of $1,000. A 55-inch panel falls into smart TV territory, and it is unlikely that the monitor will find a lot of takers, at least among gamers.
