Samsung still unsure when to release its 2021 foldables, and it might be because of the iPhone 13

In case you've missed last week's blunder by Amazon Canada, the Galaxy Watch 4 is expected to release on August 27th. Up until now, it was kind of implied this extends to the Galaxy Buds 2 and Samsung's 2021 foldable smartphones – the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. However, that might not be the case, after all. At least not internationally, according to a newly emerged report from the Far East.

Namely, South Korean media report that Samsung is still deciding between the 20th and 27th as the dates for when to release its newest gadgets. Note that this is commercial availability we're talking about, as all of the products are still expected to be unveiled on the 11th of August.

Samsung is reportedly considering the benefits of an extended pre-order period

Still, seeing how Samsung's home country is usually the one spearheading the release of any one of its devices, the fact that the company remains undecided on when exactly to release its summer portfolio could point to last-minute changes on the global stage, as well.

Korean sources claim the original plan was closer to the 20th. However, Samsung is now said to be considering the benefits of an extended pre-order period, thus leaning more toward the 27th, according to the report. The fact that numerous rival products are expected to launch around this date further complicates things. And ultimately, Samsung doesn't want to get too close to the release of the iPhone 13 series, either, sources said. What to make out of all of this? We'll likely know more in the days ahead.
