A couple of weeks back, Samsung launched the Chromebook Plus v2, a revamp to last year’s Chromebook Plus. While announcing the device, Samsung said it would go on sale at Best Buy starting June 24 at a price of $499. The device is now available for purchase at Best Buy at the announced price.

The new model is a mixed bag in terms of improvements over the last year’s offering. While the new model comes with an Intel processor compared to the predecessor’s underpowered ARM chipset, the display is downgraded from a 12.3-inch 2400×1600 resolution panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio to a 12.2-inch Full HD display of 16:10 aspect ratio. Fortunately, the new model retains the stow-away pen which should help in note-taking.

Upgraded Internals and a downgraded display

On the inside, the Chromebook Plus v2 comes with a 12.2-inch Full HD display, Intel Celeron 3965Y processor, Intel HD 615 Graphics, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 39Wh battery. Samsung has not made any significant changes to the design and the device sticks to the convertible form factor of the previous model. As the name suggests, it runs Google’s Chrome OS which is ideal for a segment of customers.

Samsung is not selling any higher configuration variant if you are looking for one. If you are happy with what Samsung is offering, you can buy the new model from here.
