Samsung has also been contributing to build some public infrastructure surrounding these manufacturing facilities. A new highway has been built for ease of access to the company's Taylor site, and it's appropriately dubbed Samsung Highway.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held yesterday, attended by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and representatives from Williamson County, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Samsung. More than $16 million have been invested in the Samsung Highway which serves as a gateway to the $40 billion investment Samsung has made in Texas, the largest foreign direct investment in the history of the state.
Samsung Highway will provide employees, vendors, partners, and residents with reliable access to the Taylor site. The improved infrastructure will also make it easier for Samsung to deliver its products to customers.
It's a new alignment four-lane road. Improvements were also made to the surrounding area, including expansion of existing roadways, water lines, and turn lanes. The total cost of construction for these improvements was $39 million. Samsung made its contributions to the project in addition to contributions made by the City of Taylor and the City of Hutto.
