Samsung Electronics and Ellen DeGeneres, host of The Ellen Show in the United States, have crossed paths again. The annual Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways is underway, celebrating the holiday season by giving away various freebies. The 9th day of the campaign was yesterday. It was a special one, particularly for Samsung fans and gadget enthusiasts in the crowd, as Ellen and Octavia Spencer gave away a Galaxy Watch Active 2 for free to every member of the audience.

Not the first time when Ellen and Samsung cross paths

Some of you might recall that Ellen and Samsung have worked together before. Back in 2014, the Internet – and Twitter in particular – was on fire after Ellen took a group selfie at the Oscars using the Galaxy Note 3. It became the most retweeted posts in history (now sitting at 3.2 million retweets) and to celebrate the milestone, Samsung decided to give away free Galaxy Note 3 units to everyone in Ellen's audience.

Fast forward to yesterday, and Ellen's crowd has been equipped with a brand new Galaxy Watch Active 2 for free. Not because of a tweet, but thanks to Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways and Samsung's marketing.

Readers who have read our review should be aware of how we feel about the Galaxy Watch Active 2 by now. It's a great wearable, and it is Samsung's best smartwatch to date, albeit some users might miss the physical rotating bezel. Either way, it's a great fit for a holiday gift, and members of Ellen's audience who got one for free are sure to get some enjoyment out of it.
