According to multiple leaks and rumors, Apple is working on two foldable devices, a foldable iPhone, and a foldable device with a 20.3-inch screen that could either be a foldable iPad or a foldable MacBook. Previous reports have suggested that the first foldable device from Apple would be the 20.3-inch foldable iPad/MacBook, which the company would launch in 2026 or 2027, and then the brand would launch the foldable iPhone in 2027. Well, Apple seems to have slightly tweaked that timeline.

According to a new report from Haitong International Securities’ Jeff Pu (as seen by 9To5Google), Apple will begin mass-producing the foldable iPad/MacBook in 2025 and the foldable iPhone in 2026. That means Apple has preponed the mass production of the foldable iPad/MacBook by two years and that of the foldable iPhone by one year. With that, you can expect the first foldable iPhone to arrive around the same time when Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which could happen in July 2026.

Pu says that Apple has “accelerated” work on foldable devices. The company might have most likely taken this step as it is facing heat from Samsung and Chinese brands in the foldables market. Pu says that Apple’s upcoming foldable devices will represent a “new line-up for Apple” targeting the “ultra-high-end market.” Reportedly, Apple is exploring two sizes for the display of the foldable iPhone, 7.9-inch and 8.3-inch. That means the device’s foldable display will be larger than that of Galaxy Z Fold 5.
