Firmware

”No Android 4.0 for I9000 and P1000.”

Samsung will not update the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab to Android 4.0.
Samsung will update both devices with ”Value packs”.
This will mean that they will update those devices with software tricks.
Samsung just said last week that the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Tab wouldn’t recieve Ice Cream Sandwich.
Because many people got angry they reviewed  this issue again.
Till now sadly with no succes, Samsung told everyone to wait on the beginning of 2012 for their official news message.

Do you think you will see Android 4.0 powered by Samsung?

Common, Samsung let’s say the true. You don’t wanna update galaxy S, for their owners buy a new phone and you earn more money. 🙂

or

maybe you should thinking to offer an position on your team to teamhackamsung and onecosmic to show you how put ICS working on Galaxy S.

Continue with this policy and my next phone should be an Iphone, Why? Because apple provide all updates immediately.

That’s what I think.

Happy New Year guys !!

They say there’s no more room for ICS to be run on I9000 because of the TochWiz and video calling…
Right now Samsung is the only manufacturer who support network based video calling.

It’s very easy. I will have to buy a new phone some day. On my HTC Magic, updates stopped at 1.5, so I got the Samsung, which initially was nearly useless due to lagging issues. Speaking of the best updated phone in the market is a funny joke. If you need two updates to get it work smoothly to start with, then these are mainly bugfixes not updates. Further to this, the providers play their games with the customers, only allowing certain updates. My provider is still stuck with 2.3.3, which is totally inacceptable seeing, that Samsung has a working… Read more »

I was respect Samsung but after this way of thinking I’m regret now to deal with them, So every body if you want to go with the smart android phones just go with HTC, good hardware and good support and quick update. And let Samsung to dream of the million cell per day.

Wishing you bad dreams, with this way of supporting your consumers.

About Galaxy S people here are right, I was very well updated and the developers do a good work making custom roms for they. But what about Galaxy Tab (P1000), that came with Froyo (not a tablet OS), updated to Gingerbread (not a tablet OS), didn’t receive a version of Honeycomb (a true tablet OS, but very obscure) and will not get a version of ICS (tab/phone OS). They can only be kidding! They announced it as a tablet, and people bought and waited, and nothing came about a tablet OS (only those modified default apps to “simulate” a tablet…… Read more »

Well, since guys like onecosmic and teamhacksung do such a nice job porting ICS to our Galaxy devices I don’t care anymore about what Samsung does or not.
I have never regret that I decided to buy an open system device instead of an IPhone.
Many thanx to onecosmic – GREAT WORK!

Com on guys how many people will use stock android. The most of the people uses kies and are used to Touchwizz. Thos who flash are like 10% of the users (hardcore users) and maybe that is to much i know what Samsung means . You cannot change the whole UI.

The most of the users wont be happe then.

But, then why do not they update SGS Plus i9001 to ICS? That phone has same specs as “SE Xperia Arc S” which is getting ICS treatment.
They cannot say that i9001 cannot run ICS because of “hardware limitations”. And that phone is still on sale in many telekom operators shops.
Even LG announced ICS for Optimus Black which is weaker than i9001. I want to know why Samsung refuse to update i9001???

onecosmic’s port is running fine on my sgs 1. They should work on the battery drain and it will b fine. My impression is that ics is less laggy than gingerbread. I believe that Samsung will not update sgs 1 because Touchwiz eats too much memory. Clean ICS runs ok on sgs. At least so far…

What about ICS for Galaxy S Plus i9001?

did they say anything?
