Samsung Pay updated with support for American Express in the UK

Great news for Samsung Pay customers in the United Kingdom: You can now add your American Express card to the payment platform to start making payments in both brick-and-mortar and online stores using your smartphone—or smartwatch.

At the beginning of the month, Samsung Pay was updated with support for Co-op Bank, one of the United Kingdom’s largest financial institutions, and less than four months before that compatibility for HSBC and M&S Bank was added.

It can take anywhere from 24-hours to 96-hours for the server-side upgrade to reach your handset, but as soon as it does, you’ll be able to add your American Express card to Samsung Pay to start processing contactless payments (up to £30).

Samsung Pay works with the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8 and more

As we’re sure you’re aware, Samsung Pay is available on a flurry of smartphones in the region, including the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6. It can also be accessed using the Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 frontier.

Does anyone know if Samsung Pay is supporting MST payments in the UK? (not that it is a big problem as the vast majority of retailers now have contactless terminals, but for the rare occasion where they don’t yet)

I have managed to add my Amex to Samsung pay (unfortunately the only card I can use at the moment as support from any RBS banks hasn’t been added yet. Come on UK banks, pull your finger out!!!) but it isn’t working yet and according to Samsung they don’t support Amex yet. I think their support team haven’t been updated yet either.

When samsung pay will release in Egypt ?

Still waiting on Lloyd’s bank here in the UK to accept Samsung pay, by my feelings, I dont think they will, why do they take so slow to do this.
