[Updated] Robbers loot truck carrying Samsung devices and parts worth millions in India

Just after midnight on April 1 a group of robbers in India went off with a truck transporting goods from Samsung worth Rs. 25 crore, that's just over $4 million if you're not familiar with the local currency. Delhi police say that this is actually the city's biggest robbery to date. The truck was carrying Samsung devices as well as machine parts from the Indira Gandhi airport to Noida. When the truck reached Sarita Vihar in South Delhi it was intercepted by robbers who beat up the driver and helper, then disabled the GPS tracker and made off with the truck.

The shipment included motherboard and integrated circuit for high-end smartphones that Samsung will be manufacturing in the country. Looks like the robbers were impressed by the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge, apparently Samsung really has a winner on its hands if the two flagships are leading people to rob trucks. Ha!

Update: As a commenter pointed out this was indeed an inside job. According to latest reports four people have been detained for the heist one of which happened to be an ex-employee of the transport company and the other was a truck driver of the same transport company. Apparently the robbers had been expecting the truck to full of Galaxy S6 units but The Indian Express claims citing sources in the know that the truck did not have the new flagship devices.
