As a part of its global reorganisation plan, Samsung has restructured its leadership team in India. BD Park, Managing Director of Samsung India and President of South West Asia operations, has been replaced by HyunChil Hong, who was heading Samsung Electronics in Latin America. BD Park, who was in India since 6 years, was Samsung's longest serving senior executive in the country. It is reported that he will now be the global business head of the South Korean electronics giant. Ravinder Zutshi, Deputy MD at Samsung India, will be retiring from the company by the end of this month. Samsung was the leading smartphone vendor in India during Q3 2014, but it lost a huge chunk of market share to brands like Micromax, Motorola, and Xiaomi.
Pranav Mistry, who was serving as the VP of R&D at Samsung in the US, was recently chosen as the Vice President of global operations. Samsung has also appointed former Nokia VP Conor Pierce as the Vice President for mobile and IT in the UK and Ireland. It was being reported that Samsung might replace its mobile division head JK Shin due to declined profit and market share, but he has been given another chance. Recently, three higher officials left Samsung for the same reason during the company's annual reshuffle.
