Galaxy S III seen running Android 4.3

We told you last week about a rumour that Samsung might skip the Android 4.2.2 version for Android 4.3 and going by the latest leak, it might be for real. Someone from Samsung R&D India has spilled the beans to Temefy by leaking a screen shot of the Android 4.3 update running on Galaxy S III. While we don’t have any other information on the update, the screen shot looks believable.

Google will most likely announce the new Android OS in two days and if that happens it would make sense for Samsung to directly jump on the latest version instead of Android 4.2.2. What do you think?

Before I was HTC, but with the frequency of updates I went to Samsung!
Given the same frequency of updates from Samsung, I will go to Nexus!
Who will be the big winner when users will not buy from major manufacturers??
Because to force mock clients, they will go directly to Google!

Google still not yet announced 4.3 Android OS and Samsung is testing it on Galaxy S3, lol

If you can see Kernal version Part it is showing release date (Tue 19 Feb 2013 KST) 100% Fake i think at that time there was no 4.2 update too, and testing 4.3 OS from Feb 2013, all Fake

The next upgrade phone would not be Samsung anymore but maybe still Anroid, S3 user here and my friend’s S4 still lagging with TouchWiz and most of them were flased to other custom roms in stead of TouchWiz now.

Fake! Need to hear an announcement from Samsung about 4.2.2 Jellybean for the Galaxy S3!

3 years 9 months ago

Hmmm. Like many others I think this is fake.
Kernel- 3.0.31- anything above 4.1 or 4.2 needs the 3.4 kernel (as mentioned by others)
Its also dated Tuesday 19th of Feb, its highly unlikely that they’use a kernel dated almost half a year ago- provided it would run on 4.3 in the first place (mentioned by others)
Build number- anybody notice how the build number here is JDQ47 (what does that remind you of? Think about a certain recent version) instead of the JWR66N that’s been popping up on the S4 GE and the Nexus 4?
Also, this is pure induction of course but Google never starts initial released with a x.x.0
Even the leaked builds from the I9505G/N4 show the Android version as 4.3, not 4.3.0
Although that too was mentioned by the author of the source site…

The only possible grain of truth to this is the letter code given to the baseband and the build number. XXUFMGQ curently isn’t any official firmware at all, but at the same time, not too hard to come up with letters and search to see if it already exists.

I’m not so sure about the kernel. The 4.2.2 leak also runs on the 3.0.31 kernel. The difference is that the kernel from the 4.2.2 leak is build in May 2013.

everything else i agree with

Incorrect, one cannot use a kernel compiled for Android 4.2 on 4.3 without adding the changes & recompiling it. This kernel was compiled the February 19 and at exactly 16:06:59 and the same used in the leaked 4.2.1 firmware. (Changelist 171637)

Even the build number is totally fake, JDQXX denotes builds on the Android 4.2.x branch. Anything 4.3 will need to have the JWR number. The baseband version doesn’t even match the kernel build date either. ‘MGQ’ indicates that it was compiled in July whereas the builds number states February.

I wish see that version 4.3 on my s3, but Samsung is updating their latest flagships of 2012 (note 2 y s3) very slow and bad! Many customers are dissapointed about it… we need an official firmware now: android 4.2.2!!!

its allows for apps to sd so that helps free up 100mb or so

pity that the lack of specifics about the update it would be better to Smasung made it clear and was to end speculation

Just got a update OTA for a S$ i9505, thinking it was a 4.3, badly disappointed, haven’t figured out what it does new as it must be something as it was a hefty 345MB

noticed that the the top icon bar is phased out and it blends in with the screen

I am the author on the source site and would like to add my views here:

The above pic might not be real at all. It might be completely bogus. I have also thought about modified build.prop.

On the other hand, the insider said it was a very early edition of the Android 4.3 version which they were working on. Its not even ready for testers, meaning its not even in beta phase. Also, I think, work may not have started that early, but maybe they are using older kernels for development.

Anyway, this could be fake, this could be true. We have no idea. We got info, we posted it.

P.S. Samsung can show whatever they want in Android Version. 4.3 or 4.3.0 as I remember my Samsung Galaxy S coming with Android Version 2.2.0. Also, if someone took the time to fake an image, he would have taken the time to look at a real 4.3 About Device Screenshot, readily available on the net.

3 years 9 months ago

The Galaxy S runs 2.2, not 2.2.0. The build number patterns are all the same across all the vendors. Every new version starts of as x.x, not x.x.0.

3 years 9 months ago

Well he’s still lying his pants of as the kernel verison required to run on 4.3 is 3.4 currently among other things as the driver for a compiled 4.1.2 kernel wont work on 4.3 or even 4.2 as it wont match alot of google feathures required for even getting it to boot…

3 years 9 months ago

Seeing as how the kernel version and build date in the image are the same as those found on Android 4.1, then either the software is not finalized, or the build.prop has been tweaked to show a different Android version.

So in one word FAKE

how do you get pda site

3 years 9 months ago

With so many options available, it really becomes difficult when it comes to buying smart phones…that too when you are not sure if the one you are buying will receive firmware upgrades. I have been waiting for an upgrade for my note 2 since i heard about 4.2.2 Lets see if it gets 4.3.
