Rumor: Samsung to release Galaxy S IV at MWC 2013

Well hold on to your hats ladies and gentleman! In the land of the RUMORS there is something new floating around…

After only 9 months releasing the Galaxy S III Samsung is planning to release the Galaxy S IV at MWC 2013 in Barcelona, company officials and its local part suppliers told  The Korea Times on Sunday.
We of SamMobile think that this is really strange because the Galaxy S III is still selling like hot cakes.

A company official who wants to stay anonymous told ZDNET Asia that it is ready to unveil the Galaxy S IV Februari next year, and then the new device is expected to hit the stores globally a month later.

Samsung released this Timetable 3 days after Apple revealed their iPhone 5 which got mixed feelings by many people and techsites for lacking groundbreaking and innovating features.

The new Galaxy is expected to be Samsung’s most powerful handset in terms of hardware specifications and software advancement till date, the official said.

He also said that it will only use Exynos SOC’s instead of Snapdragon and Exynos like how it now is depending in which country you live. He also said it will use LTE definitely. The screen size of the S IV is expected to increase to 5 inches and will be a OLED ,the official said.

“Samsung wants to keep its one-year product schedule and the Galaxy S IV will be the first to match that strategy. The Galaxy S IV will see some external changes but retain its popular rectangular shape with rounded corner concept,” an official from one of Samsung’s local partners told The Korea Times.

Yes 5 inch screen will be great as long as the device stays the same size as the S3. The S3 was only a small upgrade from the S2, so hopefully we will be blown away this time. The only plus for the device getting bigger is the battery can also get bigger.

Releasing the phone in March/April is on line with 2 years from S2. They were late with the 3. Samsung should offer automatic upgrades to every existing Galaxy device owner through mobile networks as long as you had the phone for 6 months. This would help boost their sales even higher, while offering their customers the opportunity to support Samsung buy picking up the latest technology without fear of missing out on “the next great thing that’s not already here.”

They need to focus on the external dimensions instead of the screen. A 5″ screen would be beautiful, but the body of the S3 is about as big as they can go with one handed operation. It is just maximum reach for me, and i have large hands. If they left the screen alone and reworked the bezel, that would be even better. 720p is good for this round of phone. bump it up next year when the competition starts doing the same, but beef up the processor and use faster ram.

If they take away the bezel completely 5″ would be great. Pushing for a 1080p display would be the logical next step in the evolution of things.

Clearly asking why its necessary is actually simple. The video recorder records at 1080p. It would make logical sense for better support to have that resolution as a default. Also there would be less CPU consumption to scale everything to 720p hence making for longer battery life

You have to remember everything works together … its not just a flat discussion about no this is crap because of this… there ware way more variables to consider even if you don’t see it.

Also I was looking at the iPad 2 and then one of my co workers got the new ipad. You could clearly see the difference in photo quality with the higher resolution. Way more crisp colors and finer details on the newer ipad.

I Want S4 To be like this
CPU:Quad Core Krait 2GHz
2GB Ram
Storage>>>32-64-128+Micro SD Up to 64 GB
GPU….2x Faster than S3
and if you want to bigger the screen its ok but i dont want to see that s4 is bigger than s3
and better Ear phones….
changing the resolution is not bad….please use FULL HD SUPER AMOLED PLUS(1920*1080)
this is the phone that i want….i will pay for that how much you want

First off, everyone getting upset over this – it is more than likely rubbish. Releasing a phone in February/March does not make a yearly release cycle when the previous device was released in May/June. Not to mention Samsung were very coy about releasing any details on the S III right up until it was released. Why would they spill the beans so early on the S IV (assuming there will even be an S IV).

Secondly, somebody explain to me the point in having a full HD resolution. What are you expecting to see beyond the current HD resolution? The human eye will be incapable of distinguishing the difference. Not to mention the effort it will take for a SoC to push that many pixels…Utterly pointless. Every single one of you asking for a higher res screen has fallen victim to Apple’s marketing without even realizing it…

No more size.

Improve the quality of the materials. Increase the density at 4.7 dpi. Doubling the RAM. Improve battery performance. Dispense with the physical Home button (only causes trouble).

Actually manufactured for humans …

4.5″ is the perfect size for a Smart-phone in order to be able to handle it in a comfortable way.
Focus on resolution like Full HD, battery life, excellent low light sensor for the camera, no frame.
That will be perfect while waiting for the Samsung S V!

Look back at Galaxy S III, it have quite enough empty space among the screen and physical buttons (menu, home & back button) to be used to increase the screen height, no screen width increasement please.

And please develop this function: resizeable screen size and go to left or right to give comfortable for one hand operation. Go to Youtube and search “Resizeable Screen Function for Big Smart Phone Screen”.

4.8″ is ok, but not larger!! pls!

720p RGB AMOLED, and why not integrate the homebutton into the screen? :D
13mp cam
fingerprint reader would be a cool feature:)

and pls be creative!!! ;D

I smell another lawsuit…. Samsung releasing on a yearly basis infringes on a patent granted to Crapple…

4 years 8 months ago

It’s not an iPhone. We got IV they have 4

5 inches OLED is good,please:13mp camera-4Gb ram,32/64 internal sd,change the menu.
thank you so much.

Keep the screen size but increase the pixel density. Increase the battery capacity but keep it removable. Size is OK but improve the build.

4 years 8 months ago

The SII is the perfect size screen, The S4 should revert back to this size screen with all the horsepower and technology that the S4 will bring, What a phone then.
Bigger is only better when your dealing with the wife :)

4 years 8 months ago

Wow, bigger screen? LOL.. I mean, its gonna be like Galaxy Note 2. In that case, Note 3 will get bigger screen much more? IMO they need to put some care more for their devices and *cough* customers rather than keep on having new devices. It makes older devices die faster.

4 years 8 months ago

It will not happen. The same rumors where heard befor previous MWC. S IV will be presented next spring during Samsung unpacked.

4 years 8 months ago

People are saying that they will forget the SIII because of this. They won’t. The SII is still being focused on. A new SII+ is coming soon, and we haven’t been forgotten in terms of jellybean.

I give the interest rates for these events :)
95% + 80% + 95% + 80% + 60% + 99.9% + 70%

4 years 8 months ago

not!!! Only not 5″ :( Need write petition to Samsung.. It’s terrible.

SGS4 should be – Exynos5450 (because Iphone5 with 5250) + GPU MaliT6** + RAM 2 Gb + 32/64Gb + Display not pentile min 4.3″ – max 4.8″ (better qualitative 4.5″) + camera 13Mp + universal LTE

Poor decision here. I have spent a CHUNK of money investing in the latest S3 to only find out that now just a few months later a new flagship is to be released. This means A) They will drop the price of the S3, and in doing so reveal to us they do not actually value our money and B) The phone can look forward to getting left behind now in terms of where their focus is at.

Sales-wise this is also ridiculous. Now everyone still saving and looking forward to the S3 will not buy it in anticipation of the next phone and Samsung will never be able to accurately tell whether the phone / marketing strategy was effective. I cannot believe people who earn ALOT more money than me can be this ridiculous.

Also, Samsung, anybody can make hardcore electronics at a rapid rate. Your devices are clearly world beaters. The latest iPhone Hardware proves that. Its no longer about hardware, its about your customers eco-system. Just releasing massive quanities of devices doesnt get you what Apple has. Focus on your customers.
