What Samsung Galaxy devices get three Android OS upgrades

Samsung had mentioned in passing during the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra event that it would offer three generations of OS upgrades for select devices. The company officially confirmed on August 18, 2020 that it's going to support flagship and some mid-range devices for three Android OS upgrades.

The company used to provide only two years worth of Android OS updates in the past so this was certainly a welcome change. Samsung has made a firm commitment for these smartphones and tablets. They will receive an additional Android OS upgrade, allowing users to experience new features and functionality in the third year.

Samsung is applying this new upgrade policy from its 2019 flagships, foldable as well as select mid-range smartphones and tablets. Going forward, all new Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Z devices will get three upgrades. Some Galaxy A handsets and Galaxy Tab devices will also be supported.
