Samsung is finally making decent smartphone chipsets. The Exynos 980, which was launched in late 2019, was the company's first good chipset in years. Over the past few months, the company also launched the Exynos 1080 and the Exynos 2100. Both its high-end chipsets proved to be quite competitive. Now, the company seems to be working on a new Exynos processor.

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung is currently working on an Exynos chipset with model number S5E5515. The South Korean firm's numbering scheme for its mobile processors is all over the place, so it is harder to guess if it's a low-end, mid-range, or a high-end chipset. However, the publication states that the new Exynos chipset is most probably a mid-range processor.

For your reference, we've listed some recent Exynos processors and their model numbers below.

    • S5E3830 – Exynos 850
    • S5E5515 – ?
    • S5E9630 – Exynos 980 (Galaxy A51 5G, A71 5G)
    • S5E9815 – Exynos 1080 (Vivo X60 series)
    • S5E9820 – Exynos 9820 (Galaxy S10 series)
    • S5E9830 – Exynos 990 (Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20 series)
    • S5E9840 – Exynos 2100 (Galaxy S21 series)

The new chipset might not debut anytime soon, though. After the Exynos 980 (S5E9630) first appeared in our radar, the chipset took ten months to debut in a smartphone. So, we can expect the S5E5515 to debut in a product by the end of 2021 or early 2022. We also need to keep in mind that Samsung could also be working on new processors for its wearables and AR glasses.
