Samsung’s own video confirms Galaxy S7′s waterproofing

Samsung Indonesia has jumped the gun and uploaded a video that shows off some important features of the Galaxy S7 edge a week ahead of its official unveiling. The video, which carries the #TheNextGalaxy mark, confirms that the Galaxy S7 edge (and the Galaxy S7) will indeed be resistant to water as we heard in various rumors and reports in the past few weeks.

The video has been posted on Samsung Indonesia’s official YouTube channel and shows Indonesian archer Dellie Threesyadinda training using the Galaxy S7 edge. As we can see in the video, the design of the device hasn’t changed much compared to the Galaxy S6 edge, but it’s also possible that Samsung might have used the Galaxy S6 edge+ as a placeholder in this teaser video to hide the actual design of the upcoming device (notice the home button?).

The video also confirms wireless charging feature on the device, though we had no doubt about its existence. Moreover, a teaser website for the device, hints wireless charging, fingerprint sensor, and improved low-light imaging with captions “worry-less discovery”, “experience privacy at its finest”, and “bring light to the night”, respectively.

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge on February 21 at MWC in Barcelona, and we’ll be there to cover the launch event live.

I don’t really want to be that guy but there’s a disclaimer on the rain scene stating that shot was for dramatization purposes only. Aren’t we being too hopeful regarding the waterproofing feature?

Absolutely not…… because SAMSUNG has been working many different water proofing technologies for several years. External rubber seals, port caps alone don’t go far enough and many people forget to cap the port or with removable backs reinstall them properly. So Galaxy S7 will be the first device that employ a combination of water proofing technologies!

Which will include their Samsung SDI Chemical Division’s work on Nanocoatings that don’t just protect the outside, but coat and protect chips, boards, wiring, etc inside the phone from Corrosion. Which is the primary cause of phones refusing to boot after water damage!

Samsung you know is just about ready to complete the construction of the largest floating structure ever built by man, in the Prelude FLNG Project. With it not ever coming back into a drydock on the mainland for up to 25yrs. There are massive amounts of electronics that will need to be water proof even to salt water! …..meaning Nanocoatings will be included in the final solution!!! …..and then it won’t matter if a little water gets in. Dry it out and you’re good to go, even if you did forget to plug a port cap in, even though S7 probably won’t have one in the first place!!! WON’T NEED IT!!!

Yeah, it’s odd I thought it was the S6 Edge+ in the video too because the device looks exactly the same, and as we know, there is a slight design change. The device doesn’t look as curvy as the leaked images of the S7 and the camera bump is still fairly big. They are definitely hinting at water resistance but I don’t think they were showing off the S7

That’s strange. This can’t be the S6 edge plus because of the home button and the Samsung font on top of the display. The home button isn’t mat on my S6 edge plus and the font isn’t surrounded with a black line like on the video. But this will be never the Galaxy S7 edge or plus, it should look more different than the S6 edge and S6 edge plus.
Only 5 days left guys! :)

the phone in the video is not the s7 the just teasing it will be water resistance

Definitely that’s the S6 edge plus but Samsung just wanted to give us a slight glimpse to what’s coming, i really doubt the S7 edge will look exactly as the S6 edge…

This is S6 Edge+, not S7 Edge. It’s pretty clear if you look carefully.

I agree. It is a Galaxy S6 edge plus.

It’s quite big on her arm.

I think the advert is leaning towards getting the consumers ready for the launch.
