Usually, Samsung rolls out a new version of One UI for Galaxy smartphones first to its latest and high-end devices, such as the Galaxy Z and Galaxy S series, and gradually expands availability to older and more affordable models, including the Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy F lineups, over the following days or weeks.

Similarly, the brand typically introduces a new version of One UI in its home market, South Korea, before bringing it to other regions shortly after. However, the company appears to be improving this rollout strategy with One UI 8.5.

Samsung began rolling out the stable version of One UI 8.5 on May 6, 2026, with the Galaxy S26 series in South Korea becoming the first devices to receive it. On May 11, 2026, the rollout expanded globally, and unsurprisingly, the latest flagship non-foldable smartphones were the first to get the update.

Based on the South Korean tech giant's previous software release patterns, One UI 8.5 was expected to reach older and more affordable devices, such as the Galaxy A series, as well as additional regions, at a later stage.

However, since this morning (May 18, 2026), Samsung has released the stable version of One UI 8.5 to Galaxy smartphones across multiple lineups and price segments. It is rolling out the new software for a few devices, such as the Galaxy S24 series, globally, which is earlier than usual.

Today, the tech giant released the One UI 8.5 update for the following devices:

  • Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy S24
  • Galaxy S24+
  • Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23
  • Galaxy S23 Plus
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy A56
  • Galaxy A36

If you own any of these smartphones, you can check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. There’s also a possibility that One UI 8.5 could reach more devices and regions before the end of the day.

If that happens, we will update the article with the latest information. In the meantime, you can check out the major changes it brings in our video below.
