Samsung recently released the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series, but it was initially limited to South Korea. The update is now expanding to more countries and regions, including the USA and India. It brings new and improved features to millions of Galaxy S25 users worldwide.
The stable One UI 8.5 update is now available for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and Galaxy S25 Edge in global markets, including India and the USA. The update comes with firmware version S93xBXXU9CZDP and has a download size of over 4GB. However, it does not include the May 2026 security patch.
If you own a Galaxy S25 series device, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping Download and install. Once the update finishes downloading, tap Install now. Since this is a major software update, installation may take several minutes, and the phone will restart during the process.
The update introduces a more customizable Quick Panel and a compact floating tab bar design across most stock One UI apps. It also adds AirDrop compatibility to Quick Share for easier file sharing with Apple devices.
Other improvements include enhanced Bluetooth Auracast support, continuous image editing in Photo Assist, improved Call Screening, additional lock screen customization options, and automatic lock screen layouts.
One UI 8.5 also introduces a revamped version of Bixby with Perplexity integration, conversation history, and significantly improved natural language understanding. The new Storage Share feature allows users to browse files stored on one Galaxy device from another Samsung device, including TVs and monitors. Samsung DeX now remembers window sizes as well.
The Clock app now includes a built-in time zone converter and weather-based alarm backgrounds. Samsung Health gains enhanced weekly reports and more workout-sharing layouts. Additional features include Theft Protection, a redesigned Battery Info section, partial screen recording, and Calculator Nudges.
