The S27 Pro could sport some features Samsung is stripping away from the Plus and Ultra models.

Samsung looks ready to add a Galaxy S27 Pro to its flagship lineup next year. A Pro model was also rumored for the Galaxy S26 series and never arrived, but this time, the leaks make it look far more likely.
A fourth model should give buyers more choice. But some of the recent rumors make it sound like Samsung has asked the other models to give something up for their new sibling.
Early rumors suggested the Galaxy S27 Pro would feature a 50MP 3x telephoto camera. More recent information points to a familiar 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom, something Samsung already offers on its base, Plus, and Ultra flagships.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to drop its 3x camera and keep only the 5x telephoto.
So here’s a funny thought: is Samsung removing the Ultra’s 3x camera to save some money now that it needs one for the Pro? Even the most expensive model has to chip in, apparently.
That might sound a little far-fetched. But then came the rumor that the Galaxy S27+ could lose UWB support while the Pro and Ultra would have it.
Samsung’s Plus flagships have offered UWB since the Galaxy S21+. Removing it from the S27+ would be a downgrade.
Still, it adds to the joke. The Ultra gives up a zoom camera, the Plus gives up UWB, and Samsung gets a new Pro model.
Keeping costs down and giving buyers reasons to choose different models makes sense for Samsung. But it’s funny to think that we could get more Galaxy S phones to choose from while some of them lose features they already had.
A new model should give buyers something to get excited about. It shouldn’t leave everyone else wondering what their next phone might lose to make room for it.
Hopefully, the regular Galaxy S27 makes it through all this with its belongings intact.
