Samsung might end up offering long-awaited justice with Galaxy S22

Samsung's Exynos processors have received a lot of flak in the past due to comparatively lower performance and power efficiency than their Snapdragon counterparts. Tired of lacklustre performance, Galaxy fans even signed petitions to request Samsung to launch Snapdragon versions of their devices throughout the world. And it looks like their dreams might finally come true this year.

According to tipster Ahmed Qwaider, Samsung has cancelled the plan to launch the Exynos 2200 variants of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The South Korean firm will reportedly sell the Galaxy S22 series across the world with just one processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is great news for Galaxy fans in regions like Asia, Europe, and Latin America as they used to get the Exynos version of Galaxy Note and Galaxy S series smartphones.

Samsung might still end up launching the Exynos 2200 chipset sometime next month, but it is not clear which phone will actually use that chipset. Vivo had launched Exynos variants of its high-end smartphones in China last year, so it is possible that it might do the same with the upcoming Exynos chipset.

Both Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 use one Cortex-X2 core, three Cortex-A710 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores, and they are both made using Samsung Foundry's 4nm process. However, it is being reported that Snapdragon 8 Gen 1's Adreno GPU is quite powerful compared to the AMD RDNA2-based GPU used in the Exynos 2200.
