Samsung might rerelease Galaxy Watch 4 and Tab S6 Lite in 2024

Although Samsung has plenty of new and exciting devices planned for 2024, not to mention the already-released Galaxy S24 flagship series, the company might also refresh some of its older devices and rerelease them before the end of the year. We're talking about products such as the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (via @rquandt).

It wouldn't be a first for Samsung to relaunch older devices with minor refreshes. The Galaxy S20 FE, which the company initially introduced in 2020, was relaunched in 2022.

Similarly, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was originally released in 2020 and rereleased two years later. The same tablet might return this year, along with a 2024 Galaxy Watch 4. The original Watch 4 was released in 2021.

Refreshed smartwatch and tablet might ship with newer software

As yet, there's no information on how Samsung might try to make the Galaxy Watch 4 (2024) and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) appealing for customers this year. A low price might be a good start, but what about other hardware and/or software improvements?

Well, if we look at the rereleased Galaxy S20 FE (2022), it didn't bring anything new to the table save for newer firmware. The original model shipped with Android 10, and the 2022 refresh ran Android 12 upon release.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) came with the new version of Android 12 but also adopted different Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G and 732G chips, which replaced the original Exynos 9611 solution.

If this rumor is true, it's probably safe to assume that the Galaxy Watch 4 (2024) and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) refreshed models will, at the very least, offer newer firmware and extended support. But whether or not they'll boast any hardware improvements remains to be seen.

Editor's Note: The existing Galaxy Watch 4 features the Exynos W920 chip, the same as the Watch 5. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 released last year sports the newer Exynos W930 solution.

Samsung is expected to introduce a better wearable Exynos chip later this year to power the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series. And maybe the refreshed Galaxy Watch 4 (2024) will adopt the Exynos W930.

Likewise, the Exynos 1380, currently used by the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series, might also be a good-enough replacement for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite's Snapdragon 732G SoC. But only time will tell what Samsung has in store for these rumored refreshed models.
