Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, and the announcement could take place on February 1. The company appears to be testing a newer version of One UI for its high-end smartphones ahead of the launch. The South Korean firm is testing One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy S22 series.

It is being reported that Samsung is internally testing the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra with firmware version S90xEXXU2CVL7. The test firmware was spotted on Samsung's servers and could be released to the Galaxy S22 series a few days after the launch of the Galaxy S23 series. Going by Samsung's usual strategy, we expect to see One UI 5.1 first on the Galaxy S23 series.

One UI 5.1 could bring improved lock screen customizations

While it isn't clear what features One UI 5.1 could bring to the table. However, the company had hinted a few months ago that it has reserved some lock screen customization options for One UI 5.1, which will be based on Android 13 (similar to One UI 5.0). We would be happy to see the company bring Android 13's new media player widget design in the notifications area, predictive back gesture, partial screen mirroring, and improvements to the taskbar.

Samsung's One UI 5.0 rollout was swift, and we expect the same with the release of One UI 5.1 to existing smartphones. What features do you want to see in One UI 5.1? Let us know in the comments section below.
