TL;DR

  • Samsung is expected to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips in some Galaxy S27 models, with two versions leaked: standard and Extreme.
  • The Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra may get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 globally, while the base S27 and S27+ are likely to use Exynos 2700 in most regions.
  • All four Galaxy S27 phones are rumored for early 2027, with camera upgrades mainly for the Pro and Ultra models.

Samsung has been using flagship Qualcomm chips in its top-of-the-line Galaxy S and Galaxy Z series phones every year, and 2027 will be no different. The South Korean firm is expected to use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series processor in Galaxy S27 series phones. The names of those chips have now leaked.

Galaxy S27+ and Galaxy S27 Ultra could use Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Qualcomm revealed earlier today that it will announce two high-end processors during its Snapdragon Summit 2026 event next month. Tipster Digital Chat Station claims that those two chips will be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both are rumored to be fabricated on TSMC's 2nm process node, with the latter serving as the higher-performing option.

  • SM8950: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (Standard Version)
  • SM8975: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (Extreme Version)

It is likely that the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip globally. This chip is rumored to have a faster CPU and a more powerful GPU with more cache and graphics memory.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ will likely use Samsung's in-house Exynos 2700 processor in most countries. In markets like China, Canada, and the US, those base models could use either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

All four Galaxy S27 series phones are rumored to launch in early 2027. While the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature upgraded front and rear cameras, the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ are expected to retain the same camera hardware as the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+, respectively.
