The Galaxy S27 will be Samsung’s base Galaxy S series model for 2027. It will succeed the Galaxy S26 and is expected to bring improved performance, better camera quality, newer AI features, and longer battery life.

Depending on the market, the phone could use either an Exynos or Snapdragon processor.

Based on recent reports and rumors, here is everything we know so far about the Galaxy S27’s possible features and specifications.

Design and display

Samsung has used a similar core design for its base Galaxy S series phones since the Galaxy S23, but that could change with the Galaxy S27. The phone may feature a redesigned vertical camera layout on the rear.

On the front, the device is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with ultra-thin bezels, curved corners, HDR10+, and a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Peak brightness could reportedly exceed 2,600 nits.

The phone will likely include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.

The Galaxy S27 is also expected to feature an Armor Aluminum frame and toughened glass protection on both the front and rear, possibly using a newer version of Gorilla Glass. Like previous Galaxy S devices, it will likely carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Cameras

On the rear, the phone is rumored to include a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera. It could feature a 12MP front-facing camera with autofocus.

Expected camera specifications include:

  • 50MP primary wide-angle camera with OIS, Dual Pixel PDAF, and F1.8 aperture
  • 50MP ultrawide camera with PDAF and F1.9 aperture
  • 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, OIS, PDAF, and F2.4 aperture

All cameras on the phone will likely support 4K video recording at up to 60fps. The rear cameras may also support 8K 30fps video recording.

All cameras are also expected to support 10-bit Super HDR and HDR10+ video recording.

Hardware specifications

The Galaxy S27 is expected to use Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2700 processor in most markets. In China and North America, however, the phone will likely use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy chip.

Both processors are expected to be built using a 2nm manufacturing process and could offer similar levels of performance.

The phone will likely feature at least 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Expected connectivity features include GNSS, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 or newer, UWB, NFC, and a USB Type-C port with transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps.

Reports suggest the phone could use a 4,300mAh or larger battery with support for 25W wired fast charging and 20W wireless charging through Qi2.2-compatible chargers.

The device may also feature a front-facing 3D face-scanning system powered by Polar ID for biometric authentication alongside the ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Software

The Galaxy S27 is expected to run Android 17 with One UI 9.0 out of the box. The phone will likely ship with several new Galaxy AI features and improvements.

Samsung is also expected to preload Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity AI assistants on the device. Users may reportedly be able to activate all three assistants using separate hotwords.

Other rumored AI-powered features include Now Brief for contextual proactive suggestions and Now Nudges for surfacing relevant information when needed.

Availability and pricing

Samsung will likely announce the Galaxy S27 in January or February 2027 during a Galaxy Unpacked event.

The phone is expected to become available for pre-order on the day of announcement and could reach store shelves roughly two weeks later.

Based on the pricing of the Galaxy S26, the base Galaxy S27 could start at $899 for the 256GB storage variant. The phone will likely be offered in at least four color options.
