The latest software update for the carrier-unlocked units of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra bears firmware version S90xU1UEU2AVG8.
The update brings the August 2022 security patch that fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities, including the ones related to Samsung DeX, MAC address leaks, Knox VPN, improper access control, and manipulation of the list of apps that can access mobile data. It could also include general bugs related to apps and UI. It could also bring improved device stability.
If you want to install the August 2022 security update on your unlocked Galaxy S22 series phone, you should head over to Settings » Software update and tap on Download and install. You can also download the firmware version mentioned above from our database and flash it manually. However, you should backup your data before initiating the manual firmware update process.
The Galaxy S22 series was launched earlier this year with Android 12-based One UI 4.1 on board. The phones in the series have been consistently receiving monthly security updates. Samsung has promised them four major Android OS updates and up to five years of security updates.
