Galaxy Note 9 firmware development has now begun

We can now reveal that the Galaxy Note 9 firmware development has begun. Samsung has started testing two firmware builds for its next flagship smartphone which is due for release later this year. It’s not surprising to hear that the Galaxy Note 9 firmware development has begun considering the fact that this crucial step normally begins several months before the device is actually due for release.

Take the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ for example. Samsung launched its new flagship on February 25, 2018 but we reported almost five months prior to that on September 29, 2017 that work on the firmware for both models had begun.

Galaxy Note 9 firmware development

The Galaxy Note 9 is going to be Samsung’s second flagship handset for 2018 and if recent reports are any indication, it might very well be the company’s first device to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The first two Galaxy Note 9 firmware builds being tested carry version numbers N960FXXE0ARB7 and N960FXXU0ARC5. Samsung is testing the firmware globally. It’s interesting to note that while firmware development for the Galaxy Note 8 started on April 6, 2017, Samsung is doing the same for the Galaxy Note 9 over two weeks earlier than last year. Samsung started firmware development for the Galaxy S9 two weeks earlier than it did for the Galaxy S8 as well.

Does the early Galaxy Note 9 firmware development suggest that the new phablet will be launched earlier than its predecessor was? The question is justified seeing as how the Galaxy S8 was launched on March 29, 2017 but the Galaxy S9 was launched a month before on February 25, 2018.

For those who don’t remember, the Galaxy Note 8 was launched on August 23, 2017. We’ll likely hear rumors about an early Galaxy Note 9 launch in the months to come like we do every year for every new Samsung flagship but it remains to be seen whether or not Samsung will really do it or not.

In any case, early Galaxy Note 9 firmware development or not, the upcoming flagship phablet from Samsung isn’t going to be out before the second half of this year anyway.

Could it be that there will be two versions of Galaxy Note 9 this year, one having the under display fingerprint scanner and another with the regular scanner, which explains why there are two versions of the firmware??? Or the two firmwares are for a Snapdragon and Exynos versions? Any thoughts…

Guys please there’s a very serious issue with the s9+ black screen crush like gradient on dark area of the screen

Very bad battery life on s9 than s8..they should work on optimises their produc software and eliminate bloatware instead and after that develop a new firmware

Yea, give us more meaningless downgrades with newer phones Samsung. We don’t miss the 16:9 screen, IR blaster, removable battery, backs that don’t crack or smudge or even better cameras. Can’t wait for the Note9 with a useless aspect ratio, top heavy body that falls out of your hand, edge screen with glare and reflections, Spen that no one uses unless they have buyer’s remorse or simply want to show off, an even worse camera than the S9, more ARmojis that not even teenagers care about, useless sensors that can’t measure anything accurately, Samsung Experience 10 that’s still lightyears behind… Read more »

I am hearing you, only yesterday I tried out the ‘new’ 9 series, wow look very bling, even fay. But seriously these new phones may boot up faster (so what) but once settled I could not get the 9 to load app any faster than my trusty cheap S5 with Volte. Actual overall size was not much different for $1000 more I can not justify …it is a phone after all.

Pass, I stay with note 8, for another year… and S8+.

Note 8 is great. Note 10 (X) may be something better.
But I missing infrared, radio and replaceable or bigger battery. About 5000 mAh would be OK.
This 3 thinks would be great comeback for most users 😉

Possibly including project treble?

*wonders what could the Note 9 possibly include to entice my upgrading to it from the Note 8*

martindale

What would entice me is:
IR Blaster – I use it weekly at least
Flat screen – I prefer to read & write on flat surfaces
Easily/cheaply replaceable battery – I keep my phones beyond the lifespan of the original battery
Non-fragile build – bling is not all it’s cracked up to be
Price similar to Note 4 at launch.

Yeah, a camera upgrade would sway me. Otherwise, I’ve already got it all on my Note 4

The Galaxy S8/S8+ was ANNOUNCED on March 29, 2017 but did not LAUNCH until April 21, 2017.

What an article… Riddled with errors!
Better to focus on quality than quantity.

Come S10, support for S9 slows down. That is how samsung works.

You’re confusing Samsung with Apple buddy.

My iPhone 6s is faster than my note 8 .. so stop telling non sense .. every one knows iOS is more optimized than Samsung’s android. Looks like you are only using Samsung and you are used to lags

You don’t even have to wait for the S10. You’ll see support slow down in less than half a year.
Hell the A8 launched with Android 7 half a year after Android 8 was launched.

So Adnan, you’re contending that the Note9 will be out before the second half of the year, so that’s BEFORE the end of June this year.. That’s in about 12 or 13 weeks time!!! There is no way that phone will appear before August, if not September. Lololol!! What are you smoking Adnan and if it’s that good can I have some? 😉

Maybe drop the the Note 9 early to release the Samsung X in the fall?

I can’t see it. The date wrong.. He wrote that Note8 was released in April 2018. That’s not correct. I pre ordered mine and got it at the end of August. I definitely didn’t wait 5 months to get it. The release date was actually the third week in August. The Note9 will arrive in August, maybe early August instead of later, but not sooner.

Note 9… The S9 barely hit the shelves and you’re already talking about what Note 9 might have…? Wow! There’s never enough excitement I guess…
By the way, it says Note 8 was announced on April 23, but it should be August 23 if I’m correct.
