Samsung recently launched the revamped Galaxy A series in India, with an aim to make it the biggest brand in the country. While the new Galaxy A phones are now available to purchase in many countries, Samsung hopes they will contribute over $4 billion in revenues by the end of 2019 in India alone. And it seems the company is well on track to achieve that target. It has already sold over 2 million units of the latest Galaxy A smartphones in India.

Samsung is confident of surpassing the $4 billion target

Ranjivjit Singh, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Samsung India, recently revealed that the company shipped a total of two million units of the three Galaxy A phones – A10, A30 and A50 – during the 40-day period starting March 1. The revenue turnover from the sales was $500 million, which Singh believes is “a record for any brand in the industry”.

With more A series phones arriving soon, Samsung feels confident that it can surpass the target of $4 billion. “When the rest of the portfolio in the ‘A' series becomes available we are sure of not only achieving, but exceeding our target,” Singh said, speaking to Indian publication IANS.

Samsung launched three Galaxy A phones, the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A30 and the Galaxy A50, in India last month. It recently added the Galaxy A20 to the lineup. Next in the pipeline is the Galaxy A70, which launches in the country next week in the Rs 25,000-Rs 30,000 (~$360-$430) bracket. The Galaxy A80 will arrive in India in May. It'll be priced in the Rs 45,000-Rs 50,000 (~$650-$720) bracket. Samsung had earlier said that it'll launch at least one Galaxy A phone every month until June this year.

Samsung has been under tremendous pressure from Chinese rivals in India. The company lost the crown of India's biggest smartphone brand to Xiaomi last year. Hopes of revival now rest on the new Galaxy A and Galaxy M series phones. And if early signs are anything to go by, Samsung is well on way to it.
