My Snapdragon Galaxy S22 Ultra’s performance has been nothing short of excellent

This year's Exynos chipset, the first to be born from Samsung's partnership with desktop processor and GPU maker AMD, was expected to put an end to all the problems that have plagued Exynos chips over the last few years. That clearly didn't turn out to be the case.

The Galaxy S22 phones powered by the Exynos 2200 have suffered from a lot of issues, some of which are still being fixed through software updates. The Snapdragon variants, on the other hand, have been doing great for the most part. They aren't perfect, either, but I think I lucked out with my Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S22 Ultra, because it just runs great.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra was an awesome phone (the Exynos 2100 was surprisingly good!), and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is similarly excellent. Again, I'm talking about the Snapdragon variant, which is the one I'm using. Except for not-so-smooth scrolling in the Twitter app, my Galaxy S22 Ultra has been doing amazingly well. In fact, even the Snapdragon-powered base Galaxy S22 Samsung sent over to us for review ran extremely well for me, but I haven't been able to use that enough to offer any long-term thoughts.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra, though, has been my primary driver for much of the time since its release, and I love it. Samsung's usual excellence in areas like display quality and cameras is all here, of course, but performance is what I've been most pleased with. My S22 Ultra never breaks a sweat no matter what I try to do. Even the camera app is super quick at firing up and taking a shot. It's not perfect, but the S22 Ultra's camera app has been the fastest ever for me on any Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

It makes me real glad that my dreams came true (yeah, I know that sounds a little too dramatic; it's just a phone, after all), that Samsung decided to release the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S22 series in most countries instead of the objectively poorer Exynos variants. And I just hope it's something Samsung continues to do going forward.

I just don't have the energy to handle the problems we see with Samsung's Exynos chips almost every year, especially not at the price point Samsung's flagships are touching these days. I've said before, and I think I have to say it again: Screw Exynos, and just give me the Snapdragon variant every single time!
