The Galaxy S22 Ultra was unveiled today alongside the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy Tab S8 series. Apart from the usual upgrades, the new flagship smartphone also comes with a built-in S Pen and a dedicated slot to store it.

So, is it really the perfect upgrade for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 20 users? Let us find out.

Galaxy S22 Ultra has a better display

The Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra have metal bodies, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Both smartphones have Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays with QHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a brighter display and a variable refresh rate (1Hz-120Hz).

They both also feature ultrasonic fingerprint readers, an S Pen with Bluetooth LE, and AKG-tuned stereo speakers.

Galaxy S22 Ultra offers much better performance, thanks to new 4nm chipset

The Galaxy S22 Ultra uses the Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, depending on the region, which is much faster than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s Exynos 990 (or Snapdragon 865), resulting in better performance and smoother gaming.

Galaxy S22 Ultra will get longer software updates

The new phone also gets longer software update support. Going by Samsung’s new promise, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will get updated up to Android 16, while the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s updates will end at Android 13.

Samsung’s newest flagship also offers better cameras

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra had an impressive camera setup, but the Galaxy S22 Ultra is even better. Its 40MP selfie camera and 108MP+12MP+10MP+10MP quad-camera on the rear capture better images and videos.

Both phones feature 5G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and USB Type-C port, but the Galaxy S22 Ultra also features the faster Wi-Fi 6E standard.

Galaxy S22 Ultra lasts longer than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S22 Ultra with a 5,000mAh battery, which lasts longer than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s 4,500mAh battery. It also charges much faster, thanks to 45W fast charging (compared to Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s 25W charging). They both have 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

    What’s the conclusion?

All things considered, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a perfect upgrade for Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (and Galaxy Note 10+) users. It has a better display, higher-quality cameras, faster performance, longer software update support, longer battery life, and faster charging. It is truly the perfect smartphone Galaxy Note fans have been waiting for.
