The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is the most premium and feature-rich Wear OS smartwatch that you can buy today. But a new high-end Wear OS-based smartwatch is coming to challenge the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The TicWatch Pro 5 has been unveiled with a price tag of $349, and it is the first Wear OS smartwatch that uses Qualcomm's brand-new 4nm chip for wearables.
TicWatch Pro 5 has bigger battery and more power-efficient processor
The TicWatch Pro 5 is a gigantic smartwatch with a 1.43-inch circular OLED screen with a 466×466 pixels resolution. On top of the OLED display, there is an ultra-low power screen that can display time even when the OLED screen is turned off. This saves a lot of power. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass, while the case is made using 7000 series aluminum. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and an MIL-STD-810H grade body for shock resistance.
The TicWatch Pro 5 uses the 4nm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. It has GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. The new smartwatch runs Wear OS 3.5, similar to the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5. In terms of activity and fitness tracking, it features an accelerometer, barometer, blood pressure monitoring, compass, gyro, heart rate monitor, and skin temperature sensor. It can track sleep, stress, and workouts, similar to the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
It has an Apple Watch-like rotating crown for UI navigation. The smartwatch also features a microphone and loudspeaker for calls and other things. Its 628mAh battery can be fast-charged to 65% in 30 minutes. It lacks Google Assistant out of the box, though, and the company has not specified when it will get Google Assistant or the upcoming Wear OS 4 update.
TicWatch Pro 5 is cheaper than Galaxy Watch 5 Pro but lacks some premium features
Despite featuring a $50 lower price tag than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, the TicWatch Pro 5 offers more RAM, storage, a faster chip, and longer battery life. However, it lacks features like body composition analysis, ECG, wireless charging, and LTE connectivity option.
