According to a new report coming out of South Korea via Korea Economic Daily, Samsung will launch its next flagship Exynos chipset (probably Exynos 2200) in the second half of this year, and that it will feature AMD Radeon GPU designed for low-power devices. Although it could first debut in an ARM-based Windows 10 laptop, it is being claimed that the chipset could also be used in smartphones and tablets.
This chipset will reportedly be manufactured using Samsung Foundry's own 5nm fabrication process. The report states that the upcoming Exynos processor will feature “extraordinary computing power and battery efficiency.” If this information turns out to be true, Samsung could become the first brand apart from Qualcomm to launch an ARM-based processor for Windows 10 laptops. This chipset could also feature built-in 5G connectivity and advanced wireless technologies like Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6E.
The Exynos 2200 is rumored to rival Apple's M1 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8Cx Gen 2 processors. Apple's new chipset, which was unveiled late last year, stunned the whole world with its desktop-beating performance and twice the battery life of other laptop CPUs from Intel. Qualcomm, however, hasn't shown a huge improvement over the previous-generation Snapdragon processor for laptops.
