Up until now you may have enjoyed The Mandalorian series on your Samsung smart TV running Disney Plus (Disney+) but a new mobile app developed by Google in collaboration with Lucasfilm is bringing the world of The Mandalorian into your living room.

Leveraging AR (Augmented Reality) technology, specifically the ARCore platform, Google's new The Mandalorian AR Experience app brings characters to life in your own space. Users can experience scenes from Season 1 and they can interact with characters to discover secrets for the ultimate goal of finding the Child and harnessing the Force.

Available now exclusively for 5G phones

The Mandalorian AR Experience is compatible with a wide variety of Android smartphones including a handful of 5G-enabled Galaxy models. The official compatibility list includes the Galaxy A51 5G, the Galaxy Note 10 5G, the Galaxy S10 5G, the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

For unclear reasons, the experience is not available for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G despite the fact that it is the most futuristic Galaxy smartphone to date. Likewise, the Galaxy A90 5G is another 5G phones that has been updated to support ARCore but hasn't been mentioned in Google's official compatibility list.

Another oddity, this time discovered by Android Police, is that although The Mandalorian AR Experience is only available for download on select 5G-enabled phones via the Google Play Store, the app seems to be working just fine when sideloaded on a 4G-only phone. The official FAQ mentions that even though the app is officially supported by 5G phones exclusively, a 5G connection isn't required to use it.
