Samsung’s shareholders want to hold TM Roh accountable for recent events

Not too long ago, Samsung restructured its business to integrate its mobile division with Samsung Electronics. It meant that Samsung's mobile division was now under TM Roh, a flamboyant personality who often made appearances in launch events. The recent turn of events could trigger yet another corporate restructuring in Samsung, according to a new report.

Samsung has had more than its share of controversies of late

The recent GOS debacle where Samsung was caught throttling the performance of several games, combined with the data breach that leaked several gigabytes of sensitive data online, has sent shareholders in a tizzy. Many are not convinced of TM Roh's leadership skills and have started a petition online demanding reelection.

Even though Samsung has issued an official statement about the GOS throttling, the generic response did little to quell the anger of fans and enthusiasts who felt that Samsung lied about the true performance potential of its smartphones. While Samsung's intentions may not have been malicious, deliberately gimping your devices in the name of power efficiency is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, the data stolen from Samsung's servers are still available online. Not only does that expose proprietary information about Samsung's products, but also lets malicious actors develop new ways to bypass the security on Samsung devices.

Whether or not a high-level management shakedown improves the situation remains to be seen. Samsung has already launched a high-level investigation into Samsung LSI's sub-par yields from its 4 nm process node, so yet another corporate restructure could be in the books soon.

Samsung has not participated in the mergers and acquisitions market for more than 7 years, despite having more than $60 billion in cash that it could use to buy new companies. Samsung’s product naming has a grammar problem

Samsung’s product naming has a grammar problem

I'm a big fan of Samsung using proper nouns to label most of its home electronics. For instance, PC monitors names are no longer just a string of seemingly random letters and numbers. Instead, they belong to lineups named ‘Odyssey' or ‘ViewFinity.' It makes Samsung look better instead of coming across as a company that […]

US trade commission orders Samsung to stop unfair business practices with retailers

The US FTC (Fair Trade Commission) has ordered Samsung to stop unfair business practices in the country.
