When you ignore the AI features, One UI 6.1 is somewhat barren. There are some interesting non-AI features, such as wallpaper support for Always On Display, but not all of them will be making their way to older devices through a software update.
In fact, except for Samsung's 2023 flagships (the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9), there is no word yet on which features will be backported to devices that are eligible for One UI 6.1.
But what about the release date? When can you expect to see the One UI 6.1 update to roll out to eligible phones and tablets?
As of February 24, Samsung has only provided the details for its 2023 flagships: they will start receiving the update sometime in March.
Judging by the company's lethargic turnaround time for the Galaxy S24 lineup's first software update, we can assume that the rollout for those flagships could spill over into April or even May in some markets.
There is no telling how long One UI 6.1 will take to arrive on other devices. We can't depend on guesswork to come up with an answer, as it's not often that Samsung takes so long to release One UI updates, especially the smaller ones that aren't accompanied by a new version of Android.
The only thing we can safely assume is that the One UI 6.1 update will have reached all eligible phones and tablets in the first six months of 2024. That may not be the answer you were expecting, but for now, it's all we have.
As always, we will be actively looking for more details on Samsung's plans for the latest One UI update and will inform you when we get them, so stay tuned.
