It will be Qualcomm's best Snapdragon chip this year, with CPU clock speeds crossing the 5GHz barrier.

Out of the four rumored Galaxy S27 series devices that are expected to launch early next year, two models could use Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon chipset. And more details about that chipset has now leaked, a month ahead of its official announcement.
Tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the name of Qualcomm's next top-of-the-line Snapdragon chip is called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and that its model number is SM8975. It will reportedly be fabricated on TSMC's second-generation 2nm process node (N2P). It will be used by the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra globally.
It has an octa-core CPU with two super-large cores clocked at 5.01GHz, three cores clocked at 4.03GHz, and three cores clocked at 3.74GHz. It also features the Adreno 850 GPU. Previous report from the same tipster indicated that the GPU has 18MB of dedicated graphics memory and that it offers significant performance improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (SM8975)
This isn't the only chip that Qualcomm is launching next month, though. It is reportedly also announcing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which will sit a step below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in terms of performance.
The Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+ are expected to use Samsung's in-house Exynos 2700 chip made on Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm process node (SF2P). A recent report claimed that Samsung is confident about its upcoming flagship Exynos chip beating the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in speed and power efficiency.
