If you read our Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 reviews, you will know we came away impressed with both mid-range phones. Okay, so the Galaxy A72 isn't that impressive, but that's only because it's a little too similar to the Galaxy A52 than we would have liked. Both the Galaxy A52/A52 5G and Galaxy A72 offer many flagship-like features for a considerably lower price than Samsung's flagship phones and even offer something the latest flagships don't: A headphone jack and support for microSD expansion.

MicroSD expansion is possible on pretty much every other Galaxy A series smartphone as well, including previous Galaxy A5x and A7x phones like the Galaxy A50/A51 and the Galaxy A70/A71. However, the Galaxy A52/A52 5G and Galaxy A72 do make a change that prospective customers need to know about: While microSD expansion is still available, it comes at the expense of proper dual SIM support.

Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 come with a hybrid card slot

On the Galaxy A52 and A72, you get a hybrid SIM and microSD slot, which means you can't use two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time. This is a limitation that has always been present on Samsung's flagship phones ever since they gained dual SIM support a few years back, but it wasn't the case on most of the company's budget and mid-range devices, not until now.

And it's something you might want to keep in mind if you are planning on purchasing the Galaxy A52 or Galaxy A72, especially if you're moving from an older mid-range (or budget) Galaxy device. The A52 and A72 do offer you the option of 256GB storage for a little extra, but if would like to continue using two SIM cards and a microSD card together, you will be out of luck if you purchase either of these phones.
