    Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4 don’t support 4K 60 fps ultra-wide video recording

One of the low-key but notable upgrades the Galaxy S21 Ultra brought last year was in terms of the ultra-wide camera. In addition to letting you take macro shots with it, Samsung added the ability to shoot 4K videos with the ultra-wide cameras at 60 frames per second.

The Galaxy S21 and S21+ didn't support this, though. And, well, the same is the case for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 (at least on our unit), which isn't bringing any upgrades to the ultra-wide camera and only supports 4K 60 fps recording on the main and zoom rear cameras. But that doesn't mean that you won't ever get 4K 60 fps recording with the ultra-wide camera.

The Galaxy S21 and S21+ launched without 4K 60 fps ultra-wide video support out of the box, but Samsung added the feature later on with a software update. And we have a feeling Samsung will do the same for the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and possibly the Galaxy Z Flip 4 (though we haven't been able to check that phone yet to see if it already supports it).

This could change with software updates

Our review units are probably running non-final software, which could be the reason for some missing features, but we have our fingers crossed Samsung has plans to add them through updates before or soon after these foldables go on sale on August 26. Whether or not that includes 4K 60 fps ultra-wide recording remains to be seen, but we'll keep a lookout with each new update and let you know in the coming weeks.

Speaking of updates, both the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will get major OS upgrades for four years, which means they will eventually end up running Android 16 at some point. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 runs Android 12L out of the box while the Z Flip 4 runs Android 12, and while Android 13 would have been better, we'll take what we can get.

Do you care about 4K video recording at 60 fps with the ultra-wide camera, or is it a feature you're not interested in? Let us know down in the comments!
