A week ago, we came up with a report where the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was put through a durability test. And the outcome was tremendous, as the Galaxy S22 Ultra passed the durability test with flying colors.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the toughest smartphone the company has produced. It comes with a tough chassis, which Samsung calls Armor Aluminum (first used on Samsung's 2021 foldables). The front and back of the phone are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Overall, the phone comes with the best materials that can be used to build a smartphone.

However, in a recent drop test done by YouTuber PBKreviews, it seems like, despite the best protective covering surrounding the phone, the Galaxy S22 Ultra fails to survive its first drop.

The first drop itself created a minor crack at the edge and shattered the camera lens

In the video shared by YouTube channel PBKreviews, there was a minor crack at the edge after the first drop, which was done from a waist-level height. Moreover, the “Super Clear” camera lens was also damaged.

Apart from some minor scratches, the glass back panel did not receive much damage. Dropping the phone from the same height to its bottom caused damage to the place where the S-Pen is located. The stylus came off when the phone hit the concrete. There were some scratches on the frame, but that's about it.

Dropping the phone from the side caused the most damage. The curved screen received multiple cracks and broke. Do note that the phone continued to be operational. Even when the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was dropped face first, the display and the fingerprint scanner worked fine.

The outcome of this Galaxy S22 Ultra drop test shows that it took quite a beating before finally giving up. Still, we would advise you to get yourself a protective case and a tempered glass protector if you're buying the phone.
