At Unpacked 2022, Samsung introduced some of its most beautiful Galaxy smartphones to date. All three models use high-quality materials like Armor Aluminum frames and Gorilla Glass Victus+ front and back panels. Samsung perfected its design formula for the Galaxy S22 flagships, and the Galaxy S22/S22+ are essentially refined versions of the Galaxy S21 and S21+. The same is true for the inside components, at which you can have a look in a new disassembly-repair video below.

The Galaxy S22 was the first to show up on camera in a teardown-repair video last week, so the Galaxy S22+ is next. The two new flagships look as similar on the inside as they do on the outside, and they achieve the same PBKreview repairability score of 7.5/10.

Battery replacement drags the Galaxy S22+ repairability score down again

Like the base Galaxy S22 model, the S22+ has a gorgeous display that's easy to replace. In fact, most internal components, save for the battery, can be replaced with relative ease.

The majority of components, from the speakers to the double-layered PCB, are held in place by screws, making the whole disassembly and repair process easier. However, the battery doesn't have pull tabs and is stuck to the Galaxy S22+ chassis with a generous amount of adhesive.

By now, this is something expected from Samsung phones, but it drags the repairability score down nonetheless. It shouldn't be much of an issue — or at all — to the average customer, but it can be an annoyance for repairers and can potentially increase repair costs for customers in need. And, of course, it makes DIY-ing more difficult.

Check out the teardown video below for a close look at the internal components — even those containing plastic from recycled fishing nets — and feel free to refer to our hands-on video if you missed out on the exterior design and other Galaxy S22 features.

Update: a Galaxy S22 Ultra disassembly video was also published by PBKreview. Check it out below. The Ultra model has the same score of 7.5/10, but the teardown offers a closer look at the different internal design and upgraded cooling system.
