Android tablets will never become as popular as Android phones, but the Android tablet experience has gotten better in recent years, and for the most part, we all have to thank Samsung's persistence for it. Samsung kept manufacturing Android tablets even when Google didn't, and One UI improved the experience tremendously.

Samsung's most recent high-end tablet lineup is the Galaxy Tab S9, and today, we'll give you five reasons why you might want to pick the base model if you're looking for an Android tablet.

Samsung remains the best Android tablet brand

The first reason why you should pick the Galaxy Tab S9 is Samsung. As we already mentioned, the Korean tech giant never gave up on Android tablets, even when it seemed like Google did. And that comes with some benefits for the user.

Samsung's understanding of Android tablets grew over the years, meaning the Galaxy Tab S9 offers the best and most complete experience and tablet-optimized apps. Every Samsung app is optimized for Galaxy tablets and have a specially designed UI for large-screen devices.

Not only that, but you will benefit from the best firmware support, with four major Android OS upgrades and at least five years of security patches guaranteed.

Just as powerful as the Tab S9 Ultra but cheaper

Although the whole Galaxy Tab S9 series is fantastic, the reason why you may want to pick the base model is that it is the cheapest, yet it offers the same level of performance as the Plus and Ultra variants.

It doesn't matter whether you pick the base Galaxy Tab S9 or the Tab S9 Ultra. You get the same high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with eight CPU cores and an Adreno 740 graphics chip.

The Galaxy Tab S9 is a mobile gaming and multimedia beast. There's no task you can throw at it that it can't handle.

A fantastic display with a higher pixel density and a great S Pen

The entire Galaxy Tab S9 series boasts Dynamic AMOLED 2X HDR10+ 120Hz displays. However, the base Galaxy Tab S9's display has a higher pixel density than the Ultra's, even if it has a lower resolution.

The Galaxy Tab S9 has a resolution of 1600 x 2560, which is lower than the Ultra model's 1848 x 2960. However, the panel is smaller and clocks in at 11 inches instead of 14.6, resulting in a higher pixel density for the Tab S9 screen.

The Tab S9 has a pixel density of around 275ppi, whereas the Tab S9 Ultra has around 240ppi. In fact, the 11-inch base Galaxy Tab S9 has a higher pixel density than the 11-inch iPad Pro (2022), which comes in at around 265ppi.

To top it all off, Galaxy Tab S9 buyers get the same great S Pen experience with 2.8ms latency as they'd get from the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

    Superior build quality with water-resistance

The Galaxy Tab S9 has phenomenal build quality, and this is equally true for the rest of the Tab S9 series. In fact, the Galaxy Tab S9 is one of the few tablets (and the only non-rugged tablet, as far as we know) to boast an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

Samsung's high-end tablet also has an aluminum frame and back, along with glass screen protection.

Turn your tablet into a workstation with DeX

The fifth reason why you should pick the Galaxy Tab S9 is that it is the most compact premium DeX-capable machine in Samsung's lineup. Samsung DeX, as you likely know, is a desktop environment that can turn Galaxy tablets into laptops.

With the Galaxy Tab S9, you get a lot of versatility, whether you prop the 11-inch Galaxy Tab S9 against a kickstand and connect a standard mouse and keyboard to it, or buy a Samsung Book Cover Keyboard for the tablet and turn it into a mobile DeX workstation.

If you're looking to buy the base Galaxy Tab S9 right now, you can get a 50% discount on the Book Cover Keyboard Slim. You also benefit from a $130 discount on the tablet itself, which drops the price down to $669.
