Galaxy A54 is getting the October 2023 update in the USA

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 were Samsung's first phones to receive the October 2023 update. Surprisingly, the next phone in line is the Galaxy A54 5G, and it's not just any A54, but the one Verizon offers in the USA.

Verizon started rolling out the update earlier this week. Galaxy A54 users can identify it by firmware version A546VSQS5AWI1. The version number confirms that the October 2023 security patch includes no new One UI features but improves security with this month's patch.

    Latest patch increases Wi-Fi security

Although Verizon doesn't detail what's new in the October 2023 update, Samsung has already published information about this month's security release.

According to the official tracker, the October 2023 security patch addresses 12 vulnerabilities in Samsung's software. One vulnerability could have allowed attackers to connect to Wi-Fi networks without permission and execute harmful code remotely, but worry not, as the method required physical access to the Galaxy device first.

In any case, the October patch addresses this potential attack vector and almost a dozen other security problems, along with a couple dozen issues affecting Google's Android OS.

Galaxy A54 users on Verizon's network should be able to download the latest update by accessing the Settings app on their phones, navigating to “Software update” and tapping “Download and install.” Other carriers in the USA might also release the October 2023 patch for the Galaxy A54 soon.

If you prefer manual updates, you can refer to our firmware database and download the latest patches from there once they're available.
