Third One UI 6.0 beta update for the Galaxy S23 has better emojis

One UI 6.0 beta 3 is now rolling out for the Galaxy S23 series in a handful of markets, and there's no other way to put it: Samsung's not doing a great job with its changelogs. Although the patch notes for beta 3 mentioned a handful of bug fixes (and also features that already existed in previous beta versions), some information on new features is missing altogether.

An unmentioned change is that the media player widget in the notification area and the lock screen in One UI 6.0 beta 3 now remembers its collapsed and expanded state. One other change that users had to discover concerns emojis.

As you may know, Samsung introduced new emojis with the first One UI 6.0 beta update. These emojis don't look as flat as they do in One UI 5.1, but they're also a bit washed out and lack details and contours.

The latest One UI 6.0 beta 3 update improves these new emojis with stronger contours and more details. The screenshot above (via @theonecid) shows a direct comparison between emojis in One UI 6.0 beta 1 and beta 3. If you look closely, you should be able to notice that beta 3 emojis have better contours and shading.

The third One UI 6.0 beta update is now available in a few countries

Samsung has released the third One UI 6.0 beta firmware for the Galaxy S23 in most, if not all, countries where the beta program was already live. We can confirm that the third update is out in the USA, UK, India, and Germany.

Beta participants in these regions should be able to download the update over the air on their Galaxy S23 flagships. Users who may want to participate in the beta program can try to apply through the Samsung Members app on their phones. Here's everything you need to know before you start, from the risks of running beta firmware to how you can leave the program if you want to go back to stable firmware.
