Samsung has formally ended the One UI 5.1.1 beta program that it started for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 lineup back in July. This was to be expected as Samsung announced last week that the stable One UI 5.1.1 update will start rolling out to older foldables and tablet devices in August.

One UI 5.1.1 will officially be released for all of Samsung's foldable phones launched since 2020 and a slew of tablets, and today, Samsung has started rolling out the update to the Galaxy Tab S7 lineup.

    Story continues after the video

The Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ One UI 5.1.1 update comes a week after it was released for the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra. The firmware version for the One UI 5.1.1 update ends in DWH3, and it includes the July 2023 security patch in addition to all the One UI 5.1.1 features.

One UI 5.1.1 enhances the multitasking experience

Most of the new features are aimed at enhancing the multitasking experience. If you use apps in pop-up view, you can now long press the handle at the top of the pop-up window to instantly switch to Multi Window mode, and vice versa. On One UI 5.1.1, pop-up windows can also be flicked to the side of the screen to hide them away until they're needed again.

It also brings better drag-and-drop functionality – you can select multiple files inside one app, and then, while pressing and holding them, you can use the other hand to open a second app and drag the selected files into that second app. The Taskbar feature has been improved as well. It can now hold up to four recently used apps for quick switching between them, though you can reduce the number to three or two or disable the Taskbar.

The Galaxy Tab S7 series is getting the One UI 5.1.1 update in some parts of Europe at the time of this writing but it should get a wider rollout soon. However, how soon the update will come to your tablet also depends on whether you have the LTE or Wi-Fi variant. Galaxy Tab S7 FE owners will also have to wait as the FE model doesn't get updated at the same time as the Tab S7 and Tab S7+.

To check if the update is available, open the tablet's Settings app, navigate to Software update, and tap the Download and install button. Alternatively, you can download the latest firmware from our archive and install it on the tablet using a Windows PC.

One UI 5.1.1 will be the final major One UI update for the Galaxy Tab S7 series, as the Tab S7 and Tab S7+ launched running Android 10 and aren't eligible for Android 14. Only the Galaxy Tab S7 FE will get Android 14 and One UI 6.0, as it launched ten months after the non-FE models and ran Android 11 and One UI 3.1 out of the box.
