Galaxy Tab S9+ strolls through online benchmark posting high scores

Samsung is developing a new high-end tablet series consisting of the base Galaxy Tab S9 variant, the Galaxy Tab S9+, and the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. And all three variants, along with some of their hardware specifications, have been indirectly confirmed by an online benchmark.

The Galaxy Tab S9+, which carries model number SM-X816B, has just popped up online at Geekbench. The device joins the base Tab S9 model (SM-X716B) and the Tab S9 Ultra (SM-X916B), both of which appeared in the online benchmark some weeks ago.

    Same chipset, more RAM

Needless to say, the Galaxy Tab S9+ boasts the same powerful chipset as the base and Ultra models. It is the same SoC the Galaxy S23 series uses, i.e., the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 “for Galaxy.” But thanks to the better heat dissipation qualities of the Galaxy Tab S9+, the tablet scores higher in Geekbench than the Galaxy S23. It tops 1,974 points in the single-core test and 5,194 points in multi-core tests. The Galaxy S23 averages a multi-core score of around 4,850.

Other Galaxy Tab S9+ specs confirmed by Geekbench include Android 13 and 12GB of RAM. However, Samsung will probably offer the Tab S9+ with 8GB of RAM and possibly 16GB at the highest end, in addition to 12GB.

Along with the Galaxy Tab S9 flagship trio, Samsung appears to be working on not one but two Fan Edition tablets this year, as revealed by the same online benchmark earlier this month. And they seem to be powered by the Exynos 1380 SoC.

In total, it looks like Samsung may plan to release five tablets that will carry the “Tab S9” brand this year. Three models will fit the high-end market, and two will fill the gap between the base Tab S9 and lower-cost Galaxy Tab A models. No official release date details are known, but Samsung could unveil its next-gen tablets this summer.
