    Samsung trumps Apple in average 5G speeds in the US

    5G has been prevalent in smartphones in the US and other key markets over the past couple of years. But which brand sells the best smartphones in terms of 5G connectivity and performance? Ookla, the company behind the famous SpeedTest app, has released a list showing which brands and smartphones delivered the best 5G quality in the US in Q4 2022.

    It's no surprise to see the latest high-end smartphones conquering the list.

    Galaxy Z Fold 4 was the fastest phone in the US in terms of average 5G download speeds

    Ookla's latest 5G report for the US reveals that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 offered the best average download speeds. On average, it provided download speeds of 147.25Mbps on 5G networks in the US. Its average upload 5G speed was 13.95Mbps, and latency was 55ms. The Pixel 7 Pro ranked second with average 5G download speeds of 137.11Mbps, upload speeds of 15.53Mbps, and 50ms latency.

    The iPhone 14 Pro Max from Apple delivered an average 5G download speed of 133.84Mbps, upload speeds of 15.39Mbps, and 54ms latency. The iPhone 14 Pro ranked fourth, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra ranked fifth. The Galaxy S22 Ultra had an average download speed of 124.83Mbps on 5G networks in the US. Its upload speed was 12.6Mbps, and latency stood at 57ms.

    Samsung Galaxy phones offered the fastest 5G download and upload speeds in the US

    Samsung managed to trump Apple to offer the best average 5G download speeds of 79.3Mbps across all its 5G phones. Galaxy phones had average upload speeds of around 9.88Mbps, while their average latency was 58ms. In comparison, the average 5G download speed on iPhones was 72.62Mbps, and the average 5G upload speed was 8.69Mbps. iPhones had an average latency of 59ms.

    The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was the fastest chipset, with a median download speed of 141.49 Mbps. The Tensor G2 with the Samsung 5G modem ranked second with an average download speed of 134.87Mbps. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 888 ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. You don't see an Exynos chip listed here because Samsung doesn't sell phones with high-end Exynos chips in the US.

    Fastest 5G Speed Smartphone Processor USA 2022

    T-Mobile was the fastest cellular network provider in the US in Q4 2022, with median download speeds of 216.56Mbps and latency of 53ms. Verizon ranked second with a download speed of 127.95Mbps and 54ms latency. AT&T was a distant third with median 5G download speeds of 83.59Mbps and latency of 59ms.
