Galaxy S11 may be a work of art if its codename is anything to go by

Samsung has codenamed the Galaxy S11 ‘Picasso’, according to Twitter leakster Ice universe. Picasso was an artist of many talents, including painting and poetry, but exactly why his name has been chosen to define the Galaxy S11 as Samsung begins development is unclear. Perhaps the Galaxy S11 will be a work of art as far as the design is concerned, but with Samsung usually following a two-year cycle for major design upgrades, it’s not expected that the Galaxy S11 will look much different from its predecessor.

That said, with the competition breathing down Samsung’s neck, the Korean giant might have to start introducing radical upgrades much faster than it does at the moment. We probably won’t see features like an under-display camera on the Galaxy S11, as Samsung has said that technology won’t be ready in the next year or two, but something like the keyless design the company is reportedly mulling for the Galaxy Note 10 would be a good start. In our opinion, Samsung needs to impress everyone with the Galaxy S11 cameras, but having a couple of other noteworthy features wouldn’t go amiss.

It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Note 10 is reportedly codenamed ‘Da Vinci’, so it’s not necessary that we would have to wait for the Galaxy S11 to see something revolutionary. Just what that revolutionary stuff will be and whether it will make an appearance later this or year or in early 2020 remains to be seen.

Why do you think Samsung may have picked Picasso as the codename for the Galaxy S11?

But given the Huawei Google position, I m assuming Samsung will be very pleased and relieved that they may not lose their global positioning.

Now they may not want to push the s11 as hard given its main rival Huawei p and mate series has been given a death blow by trump

I would rather to close the company than win on this way.

I say having the competition is a good thing and has pushed Samsung and keep them on their toes to actually give value to the customers. Else Samsung will follow the footsteps of the apple model where they rehash the same phone at a higher price ever year to keep their profit margins high (s9 is a good example where it retained the 4gb ram, same design, single camera etc…). If it weren’t for Huawei, the s10 wouldn’t have had the 8gb ram, triple camera and better screen to body ratio. I just hope for the consumers that Samsung will… Read more »

Hope they can make 5g standard for the s11 and bale to keep a relatively smaller form factor without sacrificing key essential like headphones jack, SD card etc

The s10 5g is way too big and not good for 1 hand use

I will be ready to upgrade my S9 plus, so I’m sure it will be beautiful. Why are all these negative people complaining here all the time? If they don’t like the phones can’t they buy something else? Ever since I joined when I got my first Samsung last year it is the same few people complaining like old village frauleins!!

Yes, I said the same thing. They are pathetic. Always the same.

Maybe the phone will cost the same as a Picasso! Lol. Kidding, It will be a great phone. I wonder why so many who hate Samsung comment here? Don’t they have a life?

You are right Mr. Biran. I have noticed it’s always the same few people moaning. Maybe they only can buy cheap phones or are iSheeps…lol.

Considering Picasso mostly created degenerate art whose only worth place is a fire…I really hope the S11 doesn’t reflect anything from the author who gave it the code-name. Although the rumour of the dumb moving of the camera hole on the Note 10 from the side to the intrusive centre of the display doesn’t give me much hope…we’ll see.

(Was it too obvious I have no respect for Picasso as an artist? Hope not…lol)

I was thinking the same thing: Picasso? It’ll be an unrecognizable, abstract mess?

Perhaps it’s because the quality will be so bad that it will take someone with a very messed up mind to see it as “art” worthy of owning. I too don’t care for Picasso and his disfunctional art. I prefer things that are more clearly defined and easily recognizable as quality….not on an abstract level where I will have to imagine it for what I want it to be.

I wouldn’t call the S10 a “radical” design change. Its difficult to stand out when everyone’s going for an all screen design. I struggle to see what more can be done to physically change the design of smartphones.
